DePIN Heads to Tokyo đź—ľ
August 22nd, 2025
GM and happy Friday! Matt here, serving up the latest news with DePIN Digest.
This week, Solana heads to Japan for the DePIN Tokyo event, showcasing projects such as Wingbits, DePHY, ARO Network, and more.
Meanwhile, Helium supercharged its tokenomics by announcing that 100% of subscriber revenue will be allocated to burning $HNT. The resulting token deflation could definitely liven up the party at the Helium House event in Abu Dhabi.
Let’s rock! 🎉
🤝 Partnerships & Integrations
Speaking of parties, a lot of projects have reasons to celebrate some collaboration:
Polyhedra x Aethir Ecosystem (Partnership)
Gaia x Exabits (Partnership)
Big Water X FIO (Partnership)
Aethir x Sogni (Integration)
NodeOps Network ZooFinance (Integration)
Solana Bonds x Hivello (Integration)
More collaboration means more value.
🌍 Mapping & Computing
Nobody knows incentives like DePIN, and the results in mapping have been massive. NATIX Network charted over 200 million km (triggering a giveaway!) while Hivemapper is swiftly approaching 600 million km mapped. They also announced their Explore Your Region event with 50k in $HONEY rewards.
These numbers are massive, but Io.net can surely calculate after hitting 20 million total compute hours. Tashi Network is also ramping up, hitting 22,000 nodes within 10 days of launching Alphanet, while Akash Earnings API has gone live, and Kaisar Network announced upgrades to the Provider App.
đź’Ž Tokens & Incentives
All that token value floating around means greater incentives:
Supercharged rewards are definitely the way to grow.
đź’ˇ Innovation Spotlight
Upgrades like these are the bread-and-butter of DePIN, which is why USD AI’s first partner incentive on Arbitrum and public launch are such a big deal. We also saw Gradient Network release more information on its RL framework “Echo” this week, along with Tenderly kicking off its Peaq Explorer.
But that’s not all – some more tantalizing innovations include:
🤖 Robotis & Telecoms
AI-focused DePINs have been making progress, as outlined in IoTex’s July Recap. The company reveals IIP-48 outcomes and announces Crypto’s Got Talent season 2. Tending the fields, Grass revealed ClipTagger-12b, deployed by Inference.
Telecoms also tapped into the conversation, as World Mobile released more impressive growth stats, and Wayru launched an eSIM.
Finally, Dabba Network updated us on their progress with issue #11 of Dabba News.
